MY doula APPROACH
This isn't about memorizing every possible intervention or creating the "perfect" birth plan. It's about understanding your options, building confidence in your decisions, and knowing you have someone in your corner who truly gets it.
By the time birth arrives, my clients often tell me they feel:
Calm instead of overwhelmed
Confident making decisions… even when birth needs to pivot
More connected with their partner and birth team
Less fearful of the hospital and the unknown
Prepared to advocate for themselves with confidence and respect
Supported every step of the way; not just during birth, but throughout the entire journey
Because my job isn't to tell you how your birth should go.
FAQs
-
You mean... like every pregnant woman ever?
Ask away.
I'd much rather you ask "too many" questions during pregnancy than spend your birth wondering what your options are or wishing you'd spoken up. And I KNOW your OB appointments aren’t long enough for it all.
There are no gold stars for pretending you've got it all figured out.
-
Honestly? You'll fit right in.
Most of my clients aren't looking for a picture-perfect birth. They're thoughtful women who want to understand their options, feel prepared for the unexpected, and walk into birth with confidence instead of crossing their fingers and hoping for the best.
My goal isn't to help you plan every minute of labor. It's to help you feel prepared enough that, when birth inevitably throws a curveball, you can adapt with confidence instead of panic.
-
Not even a little. That's literally why I'm here.
Nobody expects you to know the difference between Pitocin, delayed vs optimal cord clamping, or spontaneous labor before you become pregnant.
No question is too basic, too awkward, or too "I probably should already know this..."
-
YES!!
I actually work with quite a few moms who already have an amazing doula attending their birth.
They hire me because they want additional one-on-one support throughout pregnancy from someone who's spent years inside the hospital system as a L&D nurse.
We use our time together to dive deep into things like:
navigating hospital policies
understanding interventions and informed consent
advocacy and communication
preparing for different birth scenarios
Then, when labor starts, your birth doula continues doing what they do best, while you walk into birth feeling far more prepared and confident than you would have otherwise.
Think of it as strengthening your team, not replacing it.
-
Birth should never feel like a battle.
One of the biggest things we through together is helping you communicate your preferences confidently, ask informed questions, and understand your options before you're making decisions in labor.
While I can't control the people in your birth room (unless I’m there and you tell me to 😉) I can help you feel far more prepared to navigate those conversations with confidence and clarity.
-
Absolutely! And honestly, that's my favorite time to start working together.
The earlier we begin, the more time we have to build your confidence, prepare for different scenarios, answer questions as they come up, and make birth feel less overwhelming.
Most moms tell me what a relief it is to have someone on their side throughout most of their pregnancy; like a weight was lifted that they didn’t even know was there.
-
Birth is beautifully unpredictable.
Our goal isn't to create a perfect birth plan, it's to prepare you to make informed decisions no matter how your story unfolds.
Whether your birth is exactly what you envisioned or takes unexpected turns, I want you to leave feeling like you understood your options, had a voice in your care, and can look back with a story you’re proud of.
-
NEVER.
One of my favorite parts of this work is working alongside partners so they are confident, included, and prepared.
I support both of you.
Most partners tell me afterward that having another experienced, calm presence in the room actually allowed them to enjoy the moment more because they weren't carrying the weight of trying to remember everything on their own.
-
My specialty is helping families prepare for and navigate hospital birth.
Whether we're working together virtually or I'm supporting you in person, my focus is helping you understand your options, advocate for your preferences, and feel calm and confident walking into the hospital.
-
Regardless of how we're working together (virtually or in person), I’ll never leave you hangin’… especially after baby is here!
We'll make sure you have the guidance, resources, and encouragement you need as you process your birth, settle into feeding, adjust to postpartum life, and begin finding your footing as a new family.
